The core of the avocado is usually thrown carelessly in the trash.
You can grow an avocado tree from the core - even without a greenhouse.
The green pulp of the avocado makes it into many healthy dishes, snacks and drinks.
The core of the fruit is usually ignored.
It is not at all time-consuming to grow a houseplant * from it.
We'll tell you how to do this in this article.
This is how the avocado core becomes a tree
In order for an avocado tree to be made from the core,
three ingredients are
required:
Core of the avocado
A large glass of water
Three toothpicks
It is important to
carefully detach
the
core from the pulp
and then wash and dry it thoroughly.
Then the toothpicks are drilled in three places in the core, they should have about the same distance.
The aim is for the
lower third of the avocado core to sit in the water
.
Over a longer period of time it can now be observed how roots gradually develop from the core.
After a little over ten weeks, the root of the kernel is strong enough to be set in the ground.
To do this, the toothpicks are first carefully pulled from the core of the avocado.
In the next step, the core and the roots are planted in the ground with great care.
It should be noted that the upper third of the avocado kernel remains free and
only the roots are covered with soil
.
Make sure that the core is moistened regularly and does not dry out.

A simpler way of growing a tree from the avocado core is to use a flower pot instead of a water glass.
You should also fill this with potting soil, which also has a clay content.
The
core is then simply pressed into the soil
so that almost two thirds of the avocado remain visible.
Here, too, care must be taken to ensure that the core remains moist and does not dry out.
The right care for the avocado tree
In order for you to benefit from the cultivated avocado plant for a long time, it must be cared for accordingly.
Since it is still a tropical plant, it should get
plenty of warmth, moist soil and a lot of humidity
.
Special care is required when watering, as the plant should not be watered too much.
So just feel on the earth here, whether it is just wet enough or just about to dry out.
Ideally, the new houseplant should be in a
bright place
where it will also get some warmth.
In the summer months, fertilizer can be used.
The little tree can best overwinter in a parking space with a room temperature of no more than 14 degrees.

Can the sapling also bear avocado fruit?
Since we do not have the right climate in Germany, the avocado tree will unfortunately
not
bear
any fruit
.
Due to the temperature fluctuations in Germany, it is also not advisable to plant the core of the fruit in the garden.
Especially in the early days, the little avocado tree has
to be cultivated with tact
