The children and grandchildren of President Joe Biden paid an emotional and understated tribute to Beau Biden during the presidential inauguration.

This January 20, 2021,

Joe Biden was

inaugurated

as president of the United States.

Several stars participated in the historic event, such as

Lady Gaga

, who was in charge of singing the national anthem, and

Jennifer Lopez

, who performed a historic show with which she honored Latinos.

However, during the ceremony there was an emotional moment dedicated to the late

Beau Biden

, eldest son of the president and his first wife

Neilia

Hunter

.

Around 11 a.m. Biden's children,

Hunter

and

Ashley

, followed by their grandchildren, were introduced to the Capitol to the sound of the US Army war band playing

John Philips

Sousa's

march

titled 'The Beau Ideal' .

This musical tribute was just one of the ways the Biden family paid tribute to Beau, who passed away in 2015 after a tough battle with brain cancer.

It is worth mentioning that, this topic was written in 1893 and "ideal beau" was a phrase used in the early 1890s to describe a person or thing that represented the highest standard of excellence.

One day before the 59th inaugural ceremony, Joe Biden gave his last speech as president-elect in Delaware and there, he was moved to talk about his family and dedicated this historic triumph to his late son, who followed in his footsteps as prosecutor of that state.

"Delaware will be written on my heart," he shared.

"You've been there for us through thick and thin. You never walked away. And I'm proud to be a child of Delaware. And I'm even more proud to be here doing this from Major Beau Biden's facility. Ladies and gentlemen, I only regret one thing, he is not here. Because we should present him as president, "said Biden moved to tears.

Joe and

Jill Biden's

only daughter

, Ashley Biden, also spoke about Beau and said she was by her father's side during his election campaign.

"He was such a man of integrity, but he also had a funny and goofy side, a great sense of humor," he shared.

"I miss being with him, in the same room without saying anything. 46 when he passed away. Dad will be the 46th president," the 39-year-old shared with

Jenna Bush Hager

, daughter of former President

George W. Bush

, on the 'Today program '.

Joseph Robinette 'Beau' Biden trained as a lawyer and traveled to Iraq to fight with US troops.

Upon his return, he served as Delaware attorney general and, with a promising career, announced that he would run for governor of the state.

However, his life took a turn when he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Beau died at the age of 46 and his death was a very hard blow for the whole family.

At that time, Joe Biden was the Vice President of the United States and

Barack Obama

accompanied him in that difficult moment, even dedicated a heartfelt message to him.

"He did in 46 years what most of us could not do in 146. He left nothing in the warehouse. He was a man who led a life in which the means were as important as the ends. And the example he gave us it made us want to be a better father, a better son or a better brother or sister, a better job, a better soldier. It made us want to be a better person, "Obama said at his farewell.
