On this first day of the 2021 winter sales, promotions are already in full swing. Discover five products at knockdown prices to grab before minu

The 2021 winter sales started this Wednesday morning.

Like the 2020 summer sales, they have been postponed by a few weeks due to the coronavirus crisis.

The announcement was made on December 4 by the Minister for SMEs, Alain Griset.

By postponing this commercial event, he satisfied several federations of independent traders who demanded this postponement.

The latter are obviously not the only ones to participate in this first commercial event of the year 2021. Large merchant sites such as Amazon, Cdiscount or the Fnac Darty group are also in the game.

And if you think you have time for a good deal, don't delay too much.

Since the Pacte law, passed in September 2018 and implemented in 2020, sales only last four weeks instead of six previously.

The objective of this measure?

Revitalize the sales which were losing ground in the face of other promotional operations such as Black Friday!

The first promotions should be big starting at 50%.

Household appliances, high-tech appliances, clothing or decorative items… all departments are concerned.

Sales 2021: What is the end date?

In most of the French metropolitan and overseas departments, the sales began on Wednesday January 20 and will last four weeks.

They will therefore end on February 16.

Before the Pacte law, this commercial event could start a few days before in several departments such as Moselle, Vosges or Guadeloupe.

Today, everyone is in the same boat except in three islands.

In Saint-Barthélémy and Saint-Martin, consumers will indeed have to wait several more months to take advantage of the discounts and other good deals of the sales, because they will not start until May 1.

Another particularity, in Reunion, are the summer sales which will begin on February 6, 2021. These dates are the same for physical traders or for e-merchants and this regardless of the location of the company's headquarters. .

So no unfair competition.

You will be able to find the jacket of your dreams on the Internet or in stores.

Ditto for the dishwasher which will replace your aging appliance.

What are the differences between sales and other promotional events?

If the sales and Black Friday or the French Days are all three commercial events, they do not have the same operating rules. In France, sales respect strict rules established by the Commercial Code that online or physical sellers must follow, otherwise they may be severely penalized. Overall, the sales are used to sell their previous collections at broken prices (or even at a loss). Display standards are also imposed, for example the obligation to display the original price and the sale price on the label. The sales occur twice a year and last four weeks since the Covenant Law. Black Friday or French Days are operations that are not subject to the same rules. For starters, traders are prohibited from using the word "sales". They therefore offer discounts, rebates and other "deals". Furthermore, these operations have no legally fixed duration. Initially, Black Friday, for example, only took place over one day. We then went to three days and now to a good ten between the end of November and the beginning of December. The French Days are held twice a year for a week. Another characteristic is that merchants can carry out promotions on the products of their choice and not necessarily on the most recent. They can also make restockings.
