ECB: Lagarde, still years before a digital euro

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 21 - "It will take years before a digital euro arrives".

This was made clear by the president of the ECB, Christine Lagarde, stressing that among other things, "the technology" must be developed and must also be "compatible with sovereignty and the transmission of monetary policy".

For the president of the ECB, however, "banknotes and coins" will coexist with a digital euro.
