ROME - "Establish a Ministry of the Sea to systematize the various skills, recognizing, as has already been done in France, a fundamental role in the blue economy sector".

This was stated by the president of Federpesca, Luigi Giannini who, confidently awaiting a solution to the current government crisis, specifies that "the sea economy can really represent one of the most innovative levers to relaunch the country's development".

The numbers recalled by Federpesca speak of a sector that annually produces goods and services for a value of 34 billion euros equal to 2% of GDP, providing employment to over 530,000 employees.

"Recognizing the centrality of the sea as we have been asking for years, really means rethinking the development of Italy in a time of crisis", concludes Giannini, underlining that "a dedicated ministry could certainly represent an important opportunity to respond to European challenges and start over from a strategic sector ".
