Corona projector Prof. Nachman Ash says he will not seek a further extension of the quarantine beyond the ten-day extension approved by the government: "There is a trend of curbing morbidity," Ash said.

Ash explained that although the number of daily verified and critically ill patients is still very high, in recent days there are data indicating a decrease in the infection rate.

"The data are encouraging, we have seen for several days that there is a curb of morbidity and even a decrease," Prof. Ash said in an interview with "Shesh Am Oded Ben Ami."

"The coefficient of infection has dropped below 1, but so far only to 0.99 - and we want it to drop further. We hope that the trend will continue and that it heralds that we will not have to extend the closure."

On the high numbers of hard and verified patients, Ash said: "The numbers indicate the burden on the health system and the high morbidity. It will take time for the number of hard patients in hospitals to go down. That is why we asked to extend the closure by ten days. In morbidity - and this time we also have the effect of the vaccines and we hope that it will affect even more difficult patients, and that their number will decrease. "

The project manager emphasized in an interview the importance of vaccinating as many people aged 60 and over as possible, as well as the population of patients with chronic vaccines who have not yet been vaccinated:

Prof. Ash said, however, that he is not sure that the cultural industry can be opened in two weeks, as Prime Minister Netanyahu said. "I am happy that we are on the way to opening the cultural events, we will do so in a responsible and controlled manner.

The timing is not set precisely and we will decide on it as part of the complete plan of exit from quarantine.

It is very important that things are done responsibly and do not cause an increase in morbidity, "said the Corona commissioner.
