The Comptroller's Office asked the hospital directors to provide information on the differences between the hospitalization of Corona patients and the other wards. • Between the questions addressed to the principals: "At what stage do you 'raise a red flag'?"

As part of the examination of the functioning of the health system in the corona crisis, the State Comptroller also examines the issue of congestion in the corona wards in Israeli hospitals and their situation in comparison with the other wards.

Edelstein: "It is impossible to live with an average of 8,160 verified per day and 1,100 critically ill patients in hospitals"

In a letter sent earlier this week to all hospital administrators, Moshe Yechiel Ginzberg, senior director of the health system audit department at the State Comptroller's Office, asked for information on the "gaps" between hospitalizing corona patients in the moderate-severe and critical condition and patients in other wards with acute and chronic diseases.

Hospital administrators were also asked to provide information on the comparison between treatment of corona patients versus treatment of other inpatient wards in the corresponding periods prior to the outbreak of the plague and compared to periods with inpatient wards due to seasonal flu outbreaks.

He also asked to know the differences between the corona wards and the regular wards in terms of the knowledge, experience, attention required, skill, emotional load on the crews, fears of infection from the corona and more.

Hospital administrators were asked to answer the questions: "What do you think is the maximum occupancy rate in the corona beds in your hospital, given the resources, knowledge, experience, emotional load, protection, etc., that will enable optimal care for the critically ill patients?"

And also what is your mechanism and relationship with the Ministry of Health - at what stage do you 'raise a red flag'? What are the guidelines of the Ministry of Health? "Examine the scope in each hospital and after that offer to maintain the closure? And is there a fit between your hospitalization data and the dates when the Ministry of Health recommended and the political echelon decided on the closure?".
