Fate wanted and in his new album Mickey Gavrielov serves as a prophet of rage.

"Such are the Times of 2020," which came out this month, contains songs that deal with a break, an economic difficulty, and an uncertain future.

Most of them were written shortly before the current global crisis and were released as singles right during it.

And so songs like "If There Is No Love," "The Twenty-first Century Poverty Line," "Pay Me the Check" and "What Will Be" have gained a kind of strange coincidence of over-relevance.

"Some of the songs just fit in these times," says Gavrielov, 71, "there are also intimate songs about the search for love and longing. Somehow from all aspects everything connected to this period. I recorded the album before the Corona period, with my whole band in a big studio, which is almost impossible. "I do today. I had a desire to connect all the musicians together, to feel something more human."

He now fulfills the need to play as a band again.

Israel Today's Corona broadcasts are proud to host Gavrielov for an intimate performance tonight at 6:00 PM (on the website, app and Facebook page of "Israel Today"), which will combine some of the new songs with older material.

Among them are Bialik's "Father Story," Bialik's "She Sits at the Window," and "Puglia," which is based on letters Ben-Gurion wrote to his wife Paula.

Flutist Matan Klein and pianist Yoav Polczak play with him.

"" There is talk now of performances that may take place in the March-April area, one at the 'Days of Singing' festival in Holon and another in Eilat.

I really hope it happens, "says Gavrielov." There is some optimism on the horizon, but maybe it's just my optimism. "

What did this year look like for you?

" A year without performances is a very problematic year, not only financially but also mentally.

I am connected to the audience, connected to this experience of traveling to concerts.

Suddenly it does not exist.

You get up in the morning and adjust differently.

I go to the studio, write, sometimes record, release an album.

Beyond that - Nada.

It cleared a very long time.

See a lot of series, I read more, do more exercise.

I learned to mess with my free time.

Before that I was always scheduled to perform and record.

I do things like a retiree, and I do not want to be a retiree. "

Did you get to perform in homes, like other musicians?

" I do not.

Both in terms of health risk and also because I do not have the conditions I can appear in, and I do not want to do something that does not suit me.

Financially I do not need it so much, so I try to avoid it if I can. "

The new album, one of the most beautiful he has released, contains collaborations from completely different worlds. One is a duet with singer Esther Rada, the other is a duet with Korin Elal, his girlfriend old. "both were enthusiastic and pitched it without a problem," says gavrielov. "Corinne always brings good energy and positive, because we really do know a lot of years."

what do you think about the layout of performances presented by Aviv Geffen?

"I do not know if it will happen or not .

That sounds a little encouraging.

Maybe in half a year everything will be a little clearer and people will be able to come to shows without fear.

I trust that one day the right outline will come, and it will be possible to appear.

It's a crisis but we'll get out of here.

I believe that culture cannot be deleted. "
