Five people died on Thursday in a fire that ravaged a building under construction at the Serum Institute of India.
The world's largest vaccine manufacturer currently produces millions of doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
According to the company, the fire broke out in a new factory under construction and did not affect the vaccine production facility.
“We sent six or seven fire trucks there. We do not have more information to share at the moment concerning the extent of the fire or if someone is trapped, ”an official from the local fire station told AFP. India is the second most affected country - after the United States - by Covid-19, with more than 10 million reported cases, even though the death rate is one of the lowest in the world.
