The Priority Committee for Vaccines this evening (Thursday) recommended that the Ministry of Health give priority to the vaccination of adolescents aged 16-18.

These are students in grades 11-12, who in the near future are expected to take the matriculation exams, and come to the recruitment bureaus in order to differentiate for military service.

It has not yet been decided how to vaccinate the students: the Ministry of Health will decide whether to vaccinate them in high schools in a centralized manner, or at the HMO.

As you may recall, during the week, the health funds opened up the possibility of getting vaccinated for people aged 40 and over.

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz responded: "In accordance with the blue-and-white demand at the cabinet meeting, the priority committee decided to vaccinate 16- to 18-year-olds. Education must be our top priority.

Morbidity is still high

8,174 people were diagnosed yesterday (Wednesday) with the Corona virus, the Ministry of Health said this morning.

According to the ministry's update, 93,283 tests were performed yesterday to detect the virus, so the rate of positive results stands at 9%.

However, according to an AMN report, the infection rate has dropped below 1, for the first time in two months.

This means that each person infects less than one person, which may signal inhibition of the plague.

In addition, since midnight, 14,620 tests have been performed, 984 have been found to be positive - and the rate of positives to date stands at 6.7% so far.

There are currently 82,401 active Corona patients in Israel, 1,901 of whom are hospitalized and 1,132 of them are in critical condition.

367 of the patients are in critical condition and 317 are resuscitated.

Since the outbreak of the plague, 4,179 corona patients have died from the virus in Israel - 21 of them yesterday.

4,268 healthcare professionals have been found to be infected with the virus and are in isolation, 444 of them are male and female doctors and 1,098 are brothers and sisters.
