To compensate for the closure of places of culture, the public audiovisual group will launch at the beginning of February on TNT an ephemeral channel, Cultureb

Cultivated in all shades, all colors, to gorge on it day and night for three months.

France Télévisions announced this Friday the launch of Culturebox, an ephemeral channel to compensate for the closure of places of culture.

The public group hopes, after agreement from the Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA), to broadcast in early February on channel 19, released by the disappearance of the overseas channel France Ô at the beginning of September.

Culturebox will be broadcast non-stop, seven days a week and will be used in France Télévisions' collection of 500 shows.

“The programming will be fueled by three strong ideas, details the number 2 of the group Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez.

A daily live meeting, with a guest, the highlighting of shows never broadcast on television and the exclusive recording, once or twice a week, of a unique show specially for this channel.

"

The idea sprouted after the curfew was announced

Each evening will have its theme: dance, humor, theater, opera… The one devoted to the plastic arts will highlight the museums.

In theater, the offer will focus on creations other than boulevard comedies.

"We will offer plays from the Comédie Française and more demanding recordings", underlines Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez.

France Télévisions, as its president Delphine Ernotte reminds us in an interview with Le Figaro, “captures all the festivals, from the Vieilles charrues to the Avignon festival”.

The group has budgeted 5 million euros for this channel which will operate without advertisements.

The idea germinated after Jean Castex's speech on January 14 announcing the curfew at 6 p.m.

“We wondered with Delphine Ernotte what more we could do to support culture and we thought of a cultural channel, details the director of programs and antennas.

We contacted Roselyne Bachelot.

The Minister of Culture was enthusiastic.

Without its support, Culturebox would have remained a dead letter.

"

The content, currently under construction, will be fed thanks to the financial support of partners for the recordings, to the programs of the Culturebox platform online on FranceTV.

Fr.

"We would be delighted to continue and intensify our partnership with France TV", enthuses Paris Museums which participated in the series "Museums at home" with exhibitions in establishments of the city of Paris filmed for reports by 5 minutes.

The same enthusiasm at the Louvre, where we “positively welcome any initiative to promote culture.

"

Glimmer of hope for desperate artists

For his part, the violinist Renaud Capuçon finds the project "formidable".

He had also acclaimed a cultural channel on his Twitter and is counting on Culturebox to put a smile on those who are struggling.

“You can't imagine how desperate artists are.

This channel is a beacon of hope for the muzzled culture, insists the musician.

The damage is monstrous among young people who leave the conservatory and do not have the status of intermittent.

They are in great precariousness.

I hope this channel can spotlight these distressed talents rather than well-known artists like me.

"

The successful director Jean-Philippe Daguerre ("Adieu Monsieur Haffmann", "le Petit Coiffeur", "Aladin"…) also applauds the initiative.

“We need each other and television is a gateway to culture.

It allows hearts to beat behind a screen, he comments.

I discovered the theater on TV, before attending my first play at 19.

I have known the small screen with three or four cultural events per week, like

Apostrophe

s,

the Grand chessboard

,

the Files of the screen

.

Today it serves a lot of entertainment.

So this channel makes me happy.

We could show behind the scenes of our profession, the making of a play, the work of a director, as we like to discover the stages of craftsmanship.

We would have a more intimate, more engaged relationship with the public.

But this should not be the pretext to delay the opening of cultural places.

"

Filling a void: the pleasure of applauding, of vibrating

All the arts will be included in the grid, from opera to hip-hop, from circus to engaged theater.

The company of the equestrian arts Alexis Gruss thus proposes the diffusion of its documentaries of 3 to 6 minutes on its backstage.

“The idea of this chain is intelligent, appreciates Firmin Gruss.

Culture will be shown in its diversity, instead of being broken down into specialties on different channels.

But it is difficult to film certain shows without an audience and more interactive, such as mentalism and magic.

Even humor.

"The laughter of the public is a response, recalls the producer of" Generation Paname ", Kader Aoun.

We will need some for the stand-up shows.

" It prevents.

Culturebox should fill a void, this pleasure of applauding, of vibrating in unison in front of these artists who nourish souls and beautify lives.
