"Should we force the government to dissolve Génération Identitaire?"

It was the subject of the debate of Balance Ton Post, the emission of Cyril Hanouna on C8, this Thursday evening.

Your provocation, taste for one-upmanship, radically opposed positions… The program has made people talk again by inviting one of the figures of the extreme right-wing group, Thaïs d'Escufon.

With more than 20,000 tweets, many of them expressing their indignation, this weekly program of the Canal group channel has offered a new controversial sequence.

Decryption.

What happened before the show

Everything goes back to Tuesday morning.

Generation Identity, an anti-immigration small group adept "buzz", communicates on its new mission.

After the Mediterranean in 2017, after the Alps in 2018, around thirty activists claim this time to "travel" around the Col du Portillon, near Bagnères-de-Luchon, in order to prevent refugees from entering French soil. .

The slogan is always the same ("Defend Europe"), the communication on social networks too.

In fact, it's difficult to see anything other than an umpteenth display operation.

The commander-in-chief of the Saint-Gaudens gendarmerie told Le Parisien on Tuesday that he had found “no disturbance of public order” and “no operation to hand over migrants”.

Simply “people with flags” who, “when they saw us, stayed a bit and then left”.

These actions "unnecessarily mobilized the police, diverting them from their border surveillance mission", also lamented the prefect.

On Wednesday, rebelote, the gendarmes go to meet them as they prepare to go on a snowshoe hike.

"We informed them about the snow conditions because they were not well equipped," said a captain.

A person was heard by the police and justice seized because of a banner deployed on the site of the Melles-Pont-du-Roy hydroelectric power station, owned by EDF.

"At this stage, investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the facts and possible criminal offenses", the Saint-Gaudens prosecutor's office confirmed to us this Friday.

But no offense has yet been characterized, according to our information, and no complaint has been filed.

What happened on the show

The media stunt apparently worked since one of the organization's headliners, Thaïs d'Escufon, was invited to C8 on Thursday evening.

The topic of the discussion: the dissolution or not of Génération Identitaire.

"It turns out that having experienced it myself, any woman knows very well that the people who come to annoy her in the street, who come to insult her, are young men of African and Maghrebian origins, that … It is a fact ”, declared the member of GI in particular.

The reactions were strong on the set, especially from the former spokesperson for La France Insoumise, Raquel Garrido, who called out to the young woman: “You don't have the impression that you are in the process of put people in peril of death?

".

This exchange attracted a significant number of viewers.

Nearly 792,000 of them (3.2% market share) followed the program in the first part of the evening and a little over 600,000 in the second part of the evening, which represents a high average for this program. .

Who is Thaïs d'Escufon?

This young 21-year-old student has presented herself as an activist "political identity activist" for three years.

In a video posted on the site Valeursuelles, she is pleased to have participated in a happening during an anti-racism demonstration in June 2020, where she denounced "anti-white racism".

She says she wants to fight against "massive immigration" and "the dangers it engenders" but also "the conquering Islamization".

“Our mode of action is the agit-prop, actions that aim to generate media attention and political fallout,” says the activist.

“Our ideas are in the majority as much as they are legitimate,” she continues.

"We must stand up against these anti-white activists who would like to see us on our knees," concludes the activist who finds himself in the spotlight today.

Can the request for dissolution be successful?

This question is a real sea serpent in the corridors of the Ministry of the Interior.

According to our information, however, the measure is under study and has been for some time.

Many elected officials have repeated this request in recent days.

This is particularly the case of the president of the Occitanie region, Carole Delga.

“We must be clear: these are small groups that do not respect Republican principles.

They incite hatred and speak about the superiority of races.

We are clearly in xenophobia and racism, ”she rebelled Wednesday with the Parisian.

“They carry a racist message and stigmatize migrants.

I am surprised that we procrastinate on the dissolution of this group.

It is not freedom of expression […] We will really insist that these requests be successful.

".

Many Internet users also expressed their reports to the CSA on Thursday evening and expressed their desire to see the small group dissolved.

On Twitter, Carole Delga also criticized the invitation made by Cyril Hanouna.

"You participate in the trivialization of their nauseating ideas," she lamented.

The account of the show explained this invitation by quoting one of the columnists Karim Zéribi: "The concept of #BalanceTonPost is not to speak for others, it is to invite the actors so that they can express themselves and receive the contradiction ”.

. @ Cyrilhanouna you thus participate in the trivialization of their nauseating ideas.

I demand the dissolution of this ultra-right pharmacy.

For the time being, the movement has always escaped condemnation from the French courts.

On December 16, Génération Identitaire and three of its executives were, for example, acquitted by the Grenoble Court of Appeal (Isère) in the case of the anti-migrant operations carried out in 2018 in the Alps.

In its judgment, the court considers that this human chain was an action "purely of political propaganda", "with media aim" and "announced as such".

It was therefore not "such as to create confusion in the mind of the public with the exercise of the police force".
