Qualitative training sessions held by the Excellence and Creativity Commission over a period of two days for students who won the membership of the national teams for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad for the year 2021 to familiarize them with the approved scientific references and the training plan that will be implemented during the coming period through the electronic training platform for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in preparation for participating in the international and world Olympiad competitions.

SANA accompanied the training sessions for students at the Ebla Hotel in Damascus, where Mirna Tashji, Director of the Electronic Training Platform at the Excellence and Creativity Authority, confirmed that the training of Olympiad students this year begins through the electronic platform that was launched in conjunction with the launch of the final qualifiers in a way that ensures uniform training for all students and alleviates the burden of transportation and health risks Resulting from meeting periodically in light of the global health situation and following up on the performance of each student and knowing his weaknesses and strengths to design appropriate training for him.

Tashji indicated that the platform includes all the international scientific curriculum that the scientific committees will train the students and conduct experimental tests to measure their scientific level and the extent of their ability to interact with the existing scientific material in a way that ensures good preparation for international participation, indicating that the platform provides the scientific axes approved by the scientific committees in each specialty and are compatible With international competitions and tests as well as training contents and educational materials related to each of the scientific axes in each specialty.

According to Tashji, the platform also provides a useful tool for the administration of the Scientific Olympiad and members of the scientific committees that enables them to follow up the performance of students, analyze test results and monitor their participation in a way that reflects on the training process as a whole and their local and international achievements.

Regarding the mechanism of work in building and supplying the scientific content of the platform, Tashji indicated that work is underway to enrich the content of the platform in a continuous cumulative manner and to introduce approved scientific axes in Arabic and English for each specialization in addition to building an approved question bank in each specialty that is constantly being updated as some previous automated tests have been introduced. The main specializations of the Scientific Olympiad are in its early stages in a way that shows the student his results directly, with specifying the places of error and right in each question.

Tashji pointed out that the platform is currently only available to new and old Olympic students, and it will be made available to all students who wish to join the Olympic teams next year.

Dr. Abi Fund, Chairman of the Scientific Committee for Informatics in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad at the Excellence and Creativity Authority, said: We put students on the way to the beginning and gave them the first keys to continue developing themselves in informatics, away from the traditional school curriculum, as they were provided with all topics related to algorithms and programming.

In turn, the students expressed their admiration for the online platform and their satisfaction with the training atmosphere and the benefit they gained from the scientific committees and trainers. “We received a lot of information during the sessions, especially the basics in informatics, so that we can later delve into it through the online platform.” Muhammad Ali Hajj Hussein from Aleppo Governorate, “Information Specialization”, said: We have now embarked on a new phase of preparation for international competitions and learned how to search for information and how to find it within the available learning resources.

The two students, Mikhail Dayoub, “Informatics Specialization” from Tartous Governorate, and Adam Kawa from Aleppo Governorate “Biology Specialization” noted the content included in the online platform and its role in facilitating the process of training them in an organized, effective and easy way.

The student Samar Samer Dayoub from Homs governorate “Specialization in Biology” indicated that she obtained the full score in the Basic Education Certificate and now she has become a member of the National Team for Biology and said that her participation in the Olympiad is a beautiful experience in which she learned a lot on the scientific and social levels and invited students next year Not to miss the opportunity to participate in it, while student Lawand Muhammad Bayram from Aleppo Governorate, who won second place in the biology subject, pointed out that: “The training is very qualitative and excellent by good teachers and the platform is a great idea.”

Abdullah Jadda, a student from Homs governorate, who won first place in biology, said, “The training taught us how to search for information on our own from different references away from the traditional methods adopted in schools.” While the student Abdul Majid Maatouk from Damascus, “specializing in biology”, said that “a breakthrough The training is good and the stage is a great development in the Olympics. ”

On Wednesday, the Excellence and Creativity Authority honored the winners of the first 15 places in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad competitions for the 2020-2021 season, and those who joined the National Olympiad teams in the specializations of “Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics,” at the Dar Al-Assad Theater for Culture and Arts in Damascus, “The Opera”.
