Police students in Bavaria celebrate Corona party

2021-01-22T16:25:28.643Z

In a riot police barracks, police students held a graduation ceremony despite Corona bans - and the instructor is said to have also participated. That now has consequences.

At a spontaneous graduation ceremony in the rooms of the riot police, police students violated the applicable corona rules in Bavaria.

As the presidium of the Bavarian riot police reported, the young officers had disregarded the applicable hygiene and distance rules at their party in Königsbrunn near Augsburg.

"The behavior of the young trainees that evening cannot be justified, which is why we will punish the violations consistently," said riot police President Udo Skrzypczak.

"I assume, however, that the young colleagues are now aware of the scope of their behavior and that they are learning from this mistake."

According to the announcement, the trainees had already celebrated spontaneously in their barracks in mid-December after a round of exams as part of the training was over.

A supervisor noticed this and immediately broke up the celebration.

Instructor transferred to another agency

The police officers would now "have to reckon with legal consequences, since their behavior has violated the extremely strict internal contact and hygiene regulations and did not do justice to their role model function as prospective police officers," it says from the presidium.

The local police station in Bobingen is also investigating violations of the Infection Protection Ordinance.

It is also unclear how many police officers were involved in the illegal celebration.

The hustle and bustle already has consequences for an instructor who is said to have been present at the celebration.

He was supposed to be supervising the police students that evening.

In the meantime he has been transferred to another agency - and, according to the presidium, is no longer active in police training.

Violations of the Corona bans by police officers have already become known in other places.

A Berlin police officer had been accused of faking a police mission lasting several days - in order to travel privately to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

During the first wave, police officers in Mainz are said to have celebrated too long in a pub and without sufficient distance.
