Weekend weather: »Irek« and »Yusuf« bring storms, snow and rain

The weather at the weekend remains cold and stormy.

Two more lows bring more rain to Germany - and more snowfall.

First of all, from the night on Saturday, »Irek« moves across the south and center of Germany and lets it snow in areas, as the German Weather Service (DWD) predicted.

Strong to stormy gusts from the west must be expected in the south; snow drifts are possible above 600 to 800 meters.

On Saturday the low moves on and in places the sun even comes out at three to nine degrees.

From Saturday evening, low »Yusuf« follows and lets it snow again down to lower altitudes - except in a strip from the southeast to the east to the north, where at most a few snow showers are to be expected.

Strong to stormy gusts blow in the south, only subsiding in the course of Sunday.

Monday it will be clear and cold

The storms “Goran” and “Hakim” had already caused damage in the past few days, especially in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony.

The fire brigade and police had to move out on numerous missions.

The strong wind knocked over trees and signs, rubbish bins were thrown around and buildings were damaged.

Rail traffic was also affected.

At least from Sunday the weather could calm down.

Then it can still snow from the middle to the east and northeast.

In the other parts of the country, however, it is forecast to remain largely dry and the sun flashes out temporarily.

At zero to four degrees it is cooler, permafrost is possible in the mountains.

The new week begins with clearer skies and therefore frosty temperatures.

In the night of Monday it gets down to minus five degrees, in the south down to minus ten degrees, and it could get even colder in the Alps.

According to the forecast, there is again a risk of slipperiness from snow or freezing moisture.

During the day it could snow in the southwest and west.
