Bad weather, orange alert in six regions. Half a meter of snow on the Emilian Apennines

Over half a meter of snow fell during the night on the Emilian Apennines, in particular in the area on the border with Tuscany at Passo delle Radici, in the Modena area. (HANDLE)


Today orange weather alert in Calabria, Basilicata, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Molise and Umbria;

yellow in Abruzzo, Campania, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, South Tyrol and Veneto.

Storms and strong winds are expected, especially in the central-southern regions.

Avalanche danger in Lombardy.

In the province of Sondrio, 70 people evacuated due to a landslide.

, in particular in the area on the border with Tuscany at Passo delle Radici, in the Modenese area.

The Tuscan side of the pass is always closed, due to avalanche risk on the side in the province of Lucca.

It circulates alternately on the provincial road 32 in Madonna di Pietravolta, due to a landslide.

Meanwhile, the orange weather alert remains due to hydraulic problems on the Bolognese and Modenese plains, where the floods of the rivers are flowing.

For tomorrow, Monday 25 January, no significant phenomena are expected, apart from weak rainfall on the central-eastern reliefs of the region, with water mixed with snow from hilly altitudes up to 700 meters and snow at higher altitudes.

Strong winds in the morning in the Apennines, with gusts even of strong intensity, attenuating in the afternoon.

Tuscany, dozens of interventions by the fire brigade

Due to the wave of bad weather that affected Tuscany, about 50 interventions for fallen or unsafe trees, torn roofs and water damage were carried out by the regional fire brigade commands in the night just passed.

The provinces most affected, it is explained by the same brigade, are those of Pisa and Lucca.

In any case, no particularly significant interventions or people involved are reported. 

Flooding in various areas of Rome and closure of the quays on the Tiber

due to the bad weather that is affecting the city.

Throughout the night, the men of the local police were engaged in the surveillance of the docks, closing all accesses and monitoring the areas most prone to flooding problems, such as the Idroscalo area.

Several interventions for flooding, in particular in the areas around via Collatina, via Cristoforo Colombo and via Laurentina.

Due to the strong wind, connections with the islands of Capri, Ischia, Procida and the Aeolian Islands are blocked.
