For 78% of them, listening to sound allows them to escape to forget the confinements.

It brings back memories of a more carefree time to 75% of the panel and 74% say that it allows them to let off steam.

On the other hand, recorded music only partially compensates for 44% for the closure of cultural venues.

Good news for concert halls, which are still desperately awaiting a sign from the government.

It's also a way of escaping from the world we find ourselves in.

I think she always had that dimension.

Music is also there to smooth out the difficulties and ease the harshness of life,

Christian Hugonnet, president of the association La Semaine du Son,

told

France Culture

.

Among the most popular styles for keeping morale up during the pandemic, the French variety tops the list with 47% favorable opinions.

It is followed by pop (31%) and rock (29%).

Classical comes fifth with 18%, just behind disco (21%).

More surprisingly, rap, which usually reigns over streaming, is only tenth with only 9%.

And to drive the point home, it is at the top of the musical genres that lead to morale, with 30%, overhanging in this category raï and metal (both at 20%).

19% of 18-24 year olds, the style's core target, are of the same opinion.

They prefer to privilege the pop, acclaimed by their age group at 33%.
