(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 24 - The United Kingdom is the country in the world with the highest number of deaths per 100 thousand residents.

It reports CNN based on data from Johns Hopkins University.

Last week there was a record of over 1,800 deaths in the country in 24 hours, with a weekly average of 1,240 deaths per day.

Although country comparisons are imperfect, given that they are based on data from each individual nation, the number of victims recorded in the United Kingdom out of a population of 66 million, far exceeds the number of victims (relative to population) of other large countries, including the United States.
