While a decision concerning a possible third confinement must be taken within the week, Public Health France deplores this Monday 449 new deaths due to Covid-19, and records 4,240 positive cases in 24 hours.

These 449 new deaths (according to Géodes), which occurred at the hospital, bring the total of Covid-19 deaths in France to 73,498 (in the hospital and in nursing homes).

Some 26,888 patients are currently treated following an infection (against 26,357 Sunday and 25,584 last Monday), including 3,031 in the intensive care units (against 2,955 Sunday and 2,803 last Monday).

Public Health France also counts a total of 4,240 positive tests on Monday, against 3,736 last Monday.

A plateau still high, while the appearance of more contagious variants revives the interest of a new confinement, already applied in other countries.

Almost 1.1 million vaccinated patients

It is during the health defense council, scheduled for Wednesday around the head of state, that the decision should be taken, ten days after the establishment of a general curfew at 6 p.m., the effects of which are still difficult to assess.

In terms of vaccination, the Directorate General of Health now counts 1,092,958 people vaccinated, against 1,026,871 last Sunday.

This weekend, France passed the milestone of one million vaccinations.

In detail, 177,058 vaccinations were carried out in Ile-de-France, 118,972 in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and 118,533 in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, three regions which have the most vaccinations.
