A woman drowned while taking a selfie (@iamsuffian)
A woman took a selfie on the banks of an Indian river, lost her balance, fell into the water and was swept to her death.
Niropama Farjapati's last moments were recorded on the camera of one of the travelers.
In the short video, Farjapati can be seen photographed on a rock near a river in Kanakunda, Orissa, western India.
The video shows a man stumbling behind a pragmatist and perhaps distracting her or even pushing her a little while she tries to take a selfie of herself against the backdrop of the landscape.
She loses her balance and falls into the water, with another woman in the background shouting in panic.
Prajapati seems to be drifting fast in the strong current.
Although the water in the river was shallow, the current made it difficult for her to stand on her feet and return to safety.
In fact eyewitnesses report that the tragic event happened so quickly that no one had time to approach and try to rescue her before she disappeared.

Local media reported that her family and rescue workers launched an extensive search at the scene but her body was found only the next day in an area about 500 meters down the river, stuck under a rock.
In India it has been reported that this is of course not the first case of people dying while trying to take selfies in dangerous places, when only at the beginning of the month a young man named Satya Freja drowned after falling down a waterfall in Smiligoda.
Witnesses said the victim took a selfie as he dived to his death.
As of this writing, his body has not yet been located.
A study conducted in 2018 found that between 2011 and 2017, 259 people died during selfies, half of them in India, which declared disaster-prone areas as self-prohibited.
