The Ministry of Health this evening (Monday) recommended to Prime Minister Netanyahu that he extend the closure for another week, due to the morbidity data and the various mutations in the corona virus.

A senior health ministry official explained the recommendation: "The rise (in morbidity - MI) was rapid, and the decline is unfortunately slow due to the mutations."

The discussion with Netanyahu was attended by Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, the head of the National Security Council, the director general of the Ministry of Health, the Corona projector and other senior officials.

"It is delusional to leave the quarantine under these conditions," the health ministries said.

The Netanyahu bureau said: "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a discussion with Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, the head of the National Security Council, the director general of the Ministry of Health, the Corona project and other senior officials. The discussion dealt with morbidity trends, the rate of immunization, the effect of mutations on morbidity, From quarantine and other issues.

"Senior Ministry of Health officials have expressed concern that even at the current date of the closure we will be left with a high level of morbidity and a very heavy burden of critically ill patients in the hospitals. It has been agreed that consultations will continue tomorrow."

At midnight Ben Gurion Airport is expected to close hermetically at least until the end of the closure, which was originally planned to cross between Sunday and Monday. However, the head of public health services, Dr. Sharon Elrai Price, told the Knesset today that the closure will probably be extended to a few weeks.
