Carlos Legarreta "a reference in pediatric spinal trauma" who served as head of that section at the Ricardo Gutiérrez Children's Hospital, died at the age of 64 due to coronavirus, according to professional associations and confirmed today from the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health.
"From the Ricardo Gutiérrez Children's Hospital Professionals Association and the affiliate of the Municipal Medical Association, we want to convey our deepest condolences regarding the loss of one of the most outstanding professionals of our hospital," says the joint statement of the two organizations.
In the obituary, they describe this doctor as a
"brilliant person always committed to patients"
, as well as a reference in pediatric spinal trauma.
Carlos Legarreta was 64 years old.
For its part, the board of directors of the Argentine Society of Spinal Column Pathology also conveyed its deep regret for the death of its "distinguished former president" who demonstrated "vocation in the exercise of his profession."
As it became known, Legarreta had been
diagnosed with Covid positive a week before his death
and had no previous pathologies that placed him as a risk group.
