Spotify launches Jazz Italia, a playlist edited by the big names in jazz

(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 26 - Do you want to discover Italian jazz but don't know where to start?

Spotify launches the JazzItalia playlist, curated every month, from January 26, by a big name in Italian jazz.

The first takeover, already available on the platform, was entrusted to Paolo Fresu.

    During the year, users will be able to listen to the tracks preferred by artists of the caliber of Fabrizio Bosso, Danilo Rea, Maria Pia De Vito, Roberto Gatto, Sade Mangiaracina, FrancescoCafiso, Raffaele Casarano, Rita Marcotulli, Emanuele Cisi, Simone Graziano and the duo Musica Nude composed by FerruccioSpinetti & Petra Magoni, who will compose the playlist, each choosing the 50 songs that they think best represent the national jazz scene.

    But what are the criteria for composing a playlist representing the history of Italian jazz?

"It is not easy - explains Fresu - because Italian jazz is today a rich and heterogeneous reality and because it represents an important history that starts from the post-war period until today. One cannot fail to choose the songs of our putative fathers just as one cannot fail to choose the songs they have characterized some stylistic movements that have led up to the present. Of course: as far as I'm concerned it would have been nice to include some of the many names of today's jazz, especially the talented and talented young lions and young lionesses ... Choosing fifty songs is like answering the question of the three albums to take to the desert island ... There will be other artists who will prepare other playlists and there will be other islands to inhabit ".
