The United States requires from this Tuesday a negative test of covid-19 to all travelers who arrive by plane to the country and keep mandatory quarantine.

The measures are part of executive orders that President Joe Biden signed last week on his first day in the White House.

The Democratic Administration tries to stop the spread of the pandemic when infections in the country exceed 25 million and deaths 420,000.

In addition, the new requirements are intended to prevent travelers from bringing new mutations of the coronavirus.

"Testing does not eliminate all risks, but, when combined with a quarantine period and everyday precautions such as wearing a mask and social distance, it can make travel safer," said the director of the Center for the Control and Prevention of Diseases (CDC), Robert Redfield, when he announced the new requirements.

It can be done via PCR or antigen test, performed no more than 72 hours before departure.

The CDC imposed a negative test on travelers from the United Kingdom in December after the detection of the new variant of the coronavirus.

Many European countries went further and suspended general flights with the British country.

The Democratic Administration on Monday reinstated the ban on non-citizen travel to the United States from the Schengen zone, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Brazil, a measure that Trump lifted days before leaving the White House.

The United States extended the suspension to South Africa due to concerns about the spread of a variant of the coronavirus in that country.

Biden announced this Monday that "in about three more weeks they will be able to administer 1.5 million doses a day and vaccinate a million or more people daily within three weeks."

The health crisis is clearly a top priority for the new Administration.

"I think that by the summer we will be well on track with our goal of achieving herd immunity," the president said, although he also warned that before the curve declines, the United States "will reach 600,000 deaths."

The incoming administration is confident that 100 million vaccines will be administered within Biden's first 100 days in the White House.

Also that any American who wants to get a vaccine should be able to do so in the spring, even children.
