Snakeskin from the daycare basement: The search for the reptile continues

Firefighters and reptile experts are currently working on a rather unusual case in Bochum.
In one of the city's kindergartens, the search for a snake continues on Tuesday morning.
After a snakeskin was found, flour was scattered in the rooms and corridors to make possible movements of a reptile visible.
In addition, several snake traps were installed on Monday.
Therefore the renewed inspection of the rooms in the morning is eagerly awaited.
It was initially unclear whether the children could be looked after there again.
After the large snakeskin was found, firefighters searched the building unsuccessfully on Monday.
A teacher had come across it in the basement of the community center with kindergarten and youth home.
According to estimates by experts, the poisonous or non-poisonous snake could be between 1.30 and 1.50 meters long and still be in the rooms.
As a precaution, the six children and five kindergarten teachers had to leave the building on Monday.
The basement has been cleared out, and the experts also hope to be able to catch the animal with double-sided tape.
Queue alarm in Herne and Dortmund
The case is reminiscent of a comparable situation in the Ruhr area in September 2019. At that time, an animal keeper in Herne lost a cobra - which then caused a stir in the area.
It took six days to catch the highly poisonous monocle cobra and hand it over to a reptile expert.
A bite from the monocle cobra, native to Asia, can be life-threatening.
For safety reasons, an antidote was therefore available at the Düsseldorf University Hospital.
At the turn of the year there was also a queue alarm in Dortmund.
There, however, the search for the escaped animal was unsuccessful.
The affected apartment building had to be vacated on New Year's Eve.
