The Hamburg district court has sentenced a man to five years and ten months in prison for several break-ins, including one in Tim Mälzer's restaurant.
A co-defendant received a prison sentence of one year and three months, as the court press office announced.
According to the conviction of the criminal chamber, the 41-year-old main perpetrator and his accomplice broke into a villa in the Winterhude district.
The men looted jewelry, watches, gold bars and cash worth 717,000 euros.
Three months later, the 41-year-old and accomplices broke into the Bullerei restaurant, which was also run by TV chef Mälzer.
The perpetrators had stolen a safe with 28,700 euros from the restaurant.
Apparently the perpetrators had inside knowledge in both cases, reported the "NDR".
How they got the information, however, could not be clarified in the process.
A third break-in in a Sparkasse branch in the Harburg district failed in March of last year.
