(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 27 - "Seventy-six years ago, on January 27, 1945, the gates of the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camps were opened. On this symbolic date, in which the most abject of the tragedies in history gave way to the spark of hope, we keep alive the memory of the Shoah, joining the Jewish communities in Italy and around the world in the celebrations of the Day of Remembrance ".

Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio writes in a letter on the occasion of the memorial day.
