It tingles with a fine sparkle, is a must at any party - and is increasingly also alcohol-free: sparkling wine. The ZDF program WISO tested six different products.

  • Whether red, white, tart or dry:

    non-alcoholic sparkling wine

    is becoming increasingly popular.

  • The ZDF broadcast

    WISO

took a closer look at six products.

  • The

    result

may surprise one or the other.

Mainz - The

Corona lockdown

has an impact on many areas of everyday life -

including

alcohol consumption

.

If you sit alone at home, the temptation to reach for a glass of beer or wine is easier.

But how about some

non-alcoholic sparkling wine

for a change

?

The

ZDF broadcast WISO

has tested various products - with interesting results.

ZDF broadcast WISO: Six different alcohol-free sects in the test - experts with unanimous result

Sensory

experts

tested a total of six alcohol-free sparkling wines.

Including three cheap brands (Burg Schöneck from Lidil, Rotkäppchen and Light live) and three more expensive ones (Feixenet, Mumm, organic sparkling wine from Strauch).

The drinks were tested for pesticides, alcohol and sugar content

in a

laboratory

.

These analyzes showed that all of the products tested were above the average residual sugar in sparkling wines, explains Dr.

Matthias Schmitt from Geisenheim University.

Rotkäppchen sparkling wine contains

most of the

sugar

- at 64 grams.

“The bottom line is that all non-alcoholic sparkling wines are more for people who like things sweeter,” summarizes Schmitt.

Test: non-alcoholic sparkling wine - laboratory tests products for sugar content and pesticides

According to German food law, non-alcoholic beverages may

contain

up to 0.5 percent

alcohol by

volume

.

The products were also examined for this.

The result: All were well below the legal limit.

Only the Rotkäppchen sparkling wine was slightly higher with 0.8 volume.

The all-clear is also given by the analysis of possible

pesticides

: The smallest amounts of fungicides were found in the sparkling wine from Mumm and Rotkäppchen.

But according to WISO, these concentrations are so low that nothing can be objected to.

WISO on ZDF: alcohol-free sparkling wine in the test - consumer opinion differs from experts

The experts, on the other hand, liked one drink particularly good during the blind tasting: Strauch's expensive organic sparkling wine.

"The

Riesling

brings a certain acidity, a freshness that a wine drinker knows from a good wine", Professor Rainer Jung explains the decision.

Just behind is the flavored Freixenet.

With the other products, the differences are small.

However, the

consumer test delivered

a completely different result

: a total of 32 visitors tested the products at a wine fair.

There was also a clear favorite: First place went to the inexpensive Rotkäppchen sparkling wine - the last place went to the organic sparkling wine, which is highly praised by experts.

Tastes are just different.

A conclusion that all testers could confirm: none of the tested products comes close to the original with alcohol.

Stiftung Warentest recently selected the best hair shampoo - but the result was surprising.

The Corona app, on the other hand, has a new function.

Critics had long called for this.
