ZDF broadcast WISO: Six different alcohol-free sects in the test - experts with unanimous result
Sensory
experts
tested a total of six alcohol-free sparkling wines.
Including three cheap brands (Burg Schöneck from Lidil, Rotkäppchen and Light live) and three more expensive ones (Feixenet, Mumm, organic sparkling wine from Strauch).
The drinks were tested for pesticides, alcohol and sugar content
in a
laboratory
.
These analyzes showed that all of the products tested were above the average residual sugar in sparkling wines, explains Dr.
Matthias Schmitt from Geisenheim University.
Rotkäppchen sparkling wine contains
most of the
sugar
- at 64 grams.
“The bottom line is that all non-alcoholic sparkling wines are more for people who like things sweeter,” summarizes Schmitt.

With the other products, the differences are small.
However, the
consumer test delivered
a completely different result
: a total of 32 visitors tested the products at a wine fair.
There was also a clear favorite: First place went to the inexpensive Rotkäppchen sparkling wine - the last place went to the organic sparkling wine, which is highly praised by experts.
Tastes are just different.
A conclusion that all testers could confirm: none of the tested products comes close to the original with alcohol.
