In North Rhine-Westphalia, a routine check of two plainclothes police has gotten out of control.
According to a message on Tuesday evening, the officials noticed a vehicle on Autobahn 3 near Solingen whose license plates were reported as stolen.
When trying to catch the driver, he and his passenger fled.
He backed his car with the doors open, knocking over the officers and dragging one of the policemen along for several meters.
Then the car sped away.
The police aimed at the tires and shot.
The subsequent chase ended for the fugitives a few kilometers further on the A3 after a collision with a civil patrol car.
According to the police, the driver, who was only 16 years old, fled further into a forest, and a warning shot was fired in the air.
Nevertheless the young man kept walking.
The 15-year-old passenger was arrested on site.
"During the search of the allegedly stolen vehicle, the officers found other license plates reported as stolen, as well as narcotics," the police said.
16-year-old already known to the police - and free again
She arrested the 16-year-old from Düsseldorf at his home address that night.
According to information from the dpa news agency, the young person is already known to the police.
After the current incident, he is charged with numerous offenses.
These include driving without a license, dangerous interference in road traffic and theft.
Since there was no reason for detention, the 16-year-old was released.
