Family

Matías Ezequiel Mares

speaks of him with pride.

"He was a being of light," they say when remembering this 24-year-old who died after crashing his motorcycle into a UTV in the Cariló dunes.

From a very young age, he visited the coast to practice sports and knew the route of the dunes perfectly.

From the age of three, his father remembers, he began to enjoy the passion for irons.

He had experience in ATV and motorcycle competitions that he always attended with his full team.

A Virginian by blood, his analytical and methodical personality made him take all the necessary protective measures to ensure safety every time he was at the handlebars.

As his father Eduardo points out, “he

died in his law

.

The destination was marked at the right time and place ”.

Matías Mares's passion for motorcycles began when he was very young.

He had racing experience and knew the area where the accident occurred.

On September 18, he would have turned 25 and would have less than 12 months to complete his

degree as a mechanical engineer

at the Pacheco UTN.

Studious, hard-working, prudent and with a heart of gold available to all.

This is how his family remembers him.

Matías founded his own SME, a company for the conditioning and aesthetic treatment of cars and trucks, when he was only 18 years old.

The objective?

To be able to support himself financially and, at the same time, do what he liked the most.

Little by little, he was becoming independent from his family home in Benavídez, Tigre district.

He enjoyed staying on the Coast with friends.

He expressed it in the posts of the networks and also with his own experiences.

His last vacation began in Valeria del Mar on January 15, with his girlfriend and a friend from Mendoza.

The return to Tigre was scheduled for January 31, but fate changed plans.

It was in the same place where he displayed his passions, the dunes between Cariló and Villa Gesell, where the unwanted news occurred when he was taking a walk with his friend Lucas to test the shock absorber that he had repaired two days earlier in Pinamar.

He left at around 6:30 p.m. and, following his father's recommendations, asked a friend to accompany him.

The idea was to have someone in case something happened.

Lucas followed him on a UTV.

Minutes later, there was a clash against the UTV managed by Laureano García (45), a tourist from Ezeiza.

Upon impact, he began to convulse.

On Monday doctors diagnosed his brain death.

"It was an accident,"

says his family, who soon decided to donate organs to INCUCAI to give life to other people.

They also did not hesitate to go to the media to deny that the UTV driver had abandoned him: they said that he assisted him and practiced mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while he convulsed.

After the ablation, an emergency operation was carried out to

transfer Matías's heart

, which will continue to beat in the body of a 26-year-old girl from Florencio Varela.
