(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 28 JAN - "Rebuilding and strengthening the long-lasting partnership between the United States and Italy": this is the wish expressed by the US Secretary of State TonyBlinken in a phone call to Foreign Minister Luigi DiMaio.
Blinken in particular agreed to continue the cooperation between the two countries in Libya.
In the conversation - the Farnesina says - the two have established excellent bilateral relations, focusing on the main dossiers of common interest, from Libya to alterrorism, to the Navalny case and Russia. In wishing Blinken good work, Di Maio reaffirmed the deep friendship between Italy and the US and, in the light of the current Italian presidency of the G20, his willingness to cooperate to give new impetus to effective multilateralism. So far this is the first contact between a member of the government and the new US administration.
