(ANSA) - PESCARA, JANUARY 28 - On the trees close to the 2A and 2B landfills of the mega polluted site of Montedison di Bussi sul Tirino, there is significant doses of vinyl chloride, the most dangerous known volatile carcinogenic solvent and which can be inadvertently breathed in because it is odorless.

The discovery was made by Arte Abruzzo with the new analyzes that were requested by the Ministry of the Environment in 2020 for the evaluation of Edison's integrated survey plan in order to proceed with the remediation operations.

Edison proposed other investigations, Mipre, characterization and then reclamation, and the Ministry turned the request to the regional structure before last summer: these are investigations that confirm the dangerousness of the Bussi site, already highlighted in the report that the Arta had sent to the Region and Provincial Police in December 2019. Now the new analyzes not only confirm what was already written in 2019, but open new horizons: awaiting samples on land and water with the samples taken between August and November 2020, the forecasts of the 'Arta is that things cannot be improved upon.

This is the reason why the ARTA has twice requested, in the course of 2020, the immediate reclamation of landfills 2A and 2B, given the clear presence of polluting waste.

And on the reclamation game, new horizons of criminal investigation are also benefiting: following complaints and exposures, the Pescara prosecutor's office in recent months had opened three files with various crimes including omitted reclamation, forgery, omissions and registration in the register of the suspects of at least 8 people including public and private managers.

Meanwhile, on 11 February there will be a hearing in the Council of State for the appeal that the Ministry of the Environment presented against the sentence of the Abruzzo TAR which rejected the cancellation in self-defense of the 50 million tender for the reclamation already awarded to Dec Deme in 2018 of a 2014 project.
