In the Maccabi HMO, we updated only 66 insured persons, out of about 248,000 who completed the immunization process, contracted the virus | health

At the Maccabi HMO, we updated only 66 insured persons, out of about 248,000 who completed the immunization process, they contracted the virus. • This is a positive rate of less than 0.027%.

The Maccabi HMO announced today (Thursday) that 66 of the approximately 248,000 of its insured who received the second vaccine dose became infected with Corona more than a week after the date of receiving the vaccine.

Thus, the rate of infection among the vaccinated at Maccabi is less than 0.027%.

The HMO said that most of the infected are over 55 years old, and half of them suffer from background diseases.

The fund also said that all those infected experienced a mild illness with symptoms of headaches, coughs, weakness and fatigue.

None of them were hospitalized and suffered from a fever over 38.5 degrees.

Also, most patients were examined due to exposure to a verified patient.

Simultaneously with data on those infected among the vaccinated, a test was conducted among a control group the size of about 900,000 Maccabi members, from a diverse profile, who have not yet been vaccinated against Corona and have not been infected with the virus in the past.

Among this group, about 8,250 active verified patients were found during the test period.

A comparison of the data between the groups shows that those who were not vaccinated were 11 times more likely to be vaccinated than those who were vaccinated, and that at this stage the vaccine's effectiveness in Israel is 92% after 7 days or more after completing the second dose.

Maccabi emphasizes that this figure is considered excellent and encouraging, since according to an experiment conducted by Pfizer, only after 28 days from the completion of the second dose, the vaccine's effectiveness is 95%.

The head of Maccabi's Information and Digital Health Division, Dr. Anat Aka Zohar, said: "These are very encouraging data.

"92% efficacy of the vaccine already in days 18-7 after receiving the second dose is an excellent figure, and we will continue to monitor to see that the percentage does increase according to Pfizer's reports until it reaches 95% efficacy."

Maccabi reports that so far we have vaccinated about 664,000 patients in the first dose and about 350.00 in the second dose.

This morning, eligibility for vaccinations for those aged 35-40 opened, and in the coming weeks, hundreds of thousands more patients are expected to be vaccinated with the first and second doses of the vaccine.
