Stock market: Tokyo, opening in sharp decline (-2.28%)

(ANSA) - TOKYO, JANUARY 28 - The Tokyo Stock Exchange opens its trading in a sustained decline, following the heavy contraction of the US stock indices.

In the opening session, the Nikkei lost 2.28% to 27,981.05, with a loss of 654 points.

On the currency market, the yen weakens against the dollar at 104.10, and against the euro at a value of 126.10.
