As before every weekend, Le Parisien offers you a selection of programs not to be missed on online video platforms.

"Snowpiercer" at full speed

NETFLIX.

After a first season which was going crescendo, the series adapted from the film of the same title by Korean Bong Joon-ho (2013), itself transposed from the French comic "Le Transperceneige", returns for a new season which spins at high speed.

It always takes place in the future, as the Earth is experiencing a new ice age, and the surviving humans are loaded onto a train of more than 1000 cars which circles the globe constantly.

In this second installment, the "Snowpiercer" was joined by the locomotive of Wilford, megalomaniac and paranoid creator of these trains supposed to save the world.

Suddenly, aboard the original convoy, the old enemies make an alliance, newcomers appear, the old tyrants become heroes, and the passengers are now split between supporters and resistance fighters in Wilford.

Even more spectacular, entertaining and packed with action scenes, this season 2 refocuses on the allegory of the human condition that constitutes this hell train.

“Snowpiercer, season 2”

, American series by Josh Friedman (2021), with Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean… (10 episodes of approximately 45 minutes, one per week).

The upsetting adolescence of "Euphoria"

OCS.

After having surprised with a stripped-down episode in December, the teenage series puts it back on OCS thanks to a shocking component on the young transgender woman Jules.

Its performer, Hunter Schafer, co-wrote the plot with series creator and director Sam Levinson.

The heroine who has lived a fusional relationship with Rue, her drug addict friend, but also a fantasized relationship with a young man on the Internet, is being called into question.

After a sublime opening sequence scrolling through memories in Jules' pupil accompanied by Lorde's song "Liability", the young woman confides in a psychologist.

Her unvarnished confidences - literally and figuratively, the actress not wearing makeup, where her character is used to glitter and colored eye shadows - and her tears move us deeply.

A master stroke.

Justin Timberlake touches the heart in "Palmer"

.

At first taken aback, the ex-convict, who knows the notion of rejection because of difference, will support Sam in all his efforts, even if it means fighting for him ...

If it turns at times to the melodrama a little draws tears, this story of big arms taking up the cause for a kid who lives rather serenely questions about his gender is as original as it is kidnapped and general public.

In the title role, singer Justin Timberlake is just flawless.

EDITOR'S RATING: 4/5

“Palmer”

, American drama by Fisher Stevens (2021), with Justin Timberlake, Ryder Allen, Juno Temple, Alisha Wainwright… (1h50)

Toledano and Nakache enter "Therapy"

ARTE.TV.

This project carried by the duo Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, directors of “Intouchables” and “Hors Norms”, constitutes the French adaptation of an Israeli fiction, which takes place in the office of a psychiatrist.

Its strength is to have completely rethought the original scenario by registering it the day after the attacks of November 13.

The psychiatrist's office is located close to the Bataclan, the first session takes place on November 15, 2015, and the first patient is a surgeon who operated on survivors of the attacks.

“In Therapy” shows how all the patients who walk through the office - and the shrink himself - were affected, sometimes traumatized, by the attacks.

To embody the therapist, the creators have relied on the impeccable Frédéric Pierrot, who played a head of the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs in their film “Hors Normes”.

In front of him, Mélanie Thierry, Reda Kateb, Clémence Poésy, Pio Marmaï and Carole Bouquet all play with remarkable intensity.

EDITOR'S RATING: 4/5

“En Therapy”

, French series by Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, Pierre Salvadori, Nicolas Pariser, Mathieu Vadepied… 35 episodes of 21 to 30 minutes.

"The Dig", in search of the Saxon treasure

NETFLIX.

Just before World War I, Edith, a wealthy British widow, commissioned Basil, an amateur archaeologist, to undertake excavations on her land.

He discovers a fabulous Saxon funeral vessel which conceals a treasure.

But as the world conflict begins, the British Museum tries to appropriate their discovery: Edith and Basil will have to fight to preserve it ...

Inspired by a true story, “The Dig”, a film with old-fashioned charm but which suffers from a few lengths, is the story of a long struggle which will bring two people from different social classes together.

The film is especially valid for the performances of the interpreters of these two characters: Ralph Fiennes, magnificent as a simple and upright man who has a sense of his native land, and Carey Mulligan, remarkably touching as a very rich and sick widow, carried by his passion.

EDITOR'S RATING: 3.5 / 5

“The Dig”

, British historical drama by Simon Stone (2021), with Ralph Fiennes, Carey Mulligan, Lily James, Ben Chaplin… (1h52)
