At the height of prime time on Friday evening, Gideon Saar, chairman of the New Hope Party, pledged in writing that he would not sit in the government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Saar arrived to be a guest on the program of Ofira Asaig and Eyal Berkowitz on Friday, and in between was asked by Asaig if he would agree to sign a written commitment on the broadcast.
"An undertaking not to sit with Netanyahu in the government," reads the title of the document submitted by Asaig to Saar, which included an explicit statement: "I, Gideon Saar, hereby undertake not to sit in the government under Bibi Netanyahu's leadership."

As mentioned, Saar signed the document on the air, and the reactions to the political act done in prime time were not long in coming, with a large number of them coming out against the chairman of Tikva Hadasha.
"Benjamin Netanyahu signs four peace agreements. Gideon Saar signs Ofira Asaig a document he did not even read. That's the whole story," a tweeter wrote on Twitter.
Others added: "A person who signs his own death certificate is a precedent," "His next signature will be in the employment service" and "Some pressure from a couple of clowns and he signs without looking at what. What if he gets into a signing situation with the US administration?"
"Think of the enormous challenges that await the State of Israel. Iran, the new administration in the United States, the legal junta and look at Gideon Saar, does this seem like a leader to you? There is no doubt that this is the toaster on duty," wrote one of the surfers.
"Barko and Ofira managed with zero effort to sign you, Gideon Saar, a professional, a lawyer, on a document without even taking a quick look at him," wrote another surfer.
Alongside the hundreds of responses, who sharply and cynically criticized the signing, there were also several voices expressing support for the storm.
"Congratulations to Gideon Saar. Although he is ideologically far from me. It also makes an impression on a person in his personal conduct," one of the surfers responded.
"Your commitment today and the signing by Ofira and Barco not to sit down with a criminal defendant certainly raises thoughts that you may be worthy of our votes. Inhale," wrote another tweet.
