Waiting to be able to travel freely again, the Maldives, perhaps the dream par excellence of sea and relaxation, are preparing for the new season.

On the program, a calendar of new openings and experiences that will mark 2021, to be set out in these winter days, for the best times.

It starts immediately in March in the Vaavu atoll, appreciated for its diving spots, where the Cocogiri Island Resort will open, a boutique resort with twenty villas on the water and as many on the beach.

The structure is designed as the perfect refuge for a stay of well-being and relaxation, an ideal place for a digital detox where you can swim in the temperature-controlled pool, snorkel in the crystal clear waters or relax on the sunny beaches.

Among the proposed experiences: dinner at sunset, diving, cruises with dolphins, private picnics on the islands and island hopping tours, passing from one island to another.

In Fari Islands, the new luxury real estate project includes three high-level resorts, including the Ritz-Carlton Fari Islands for May 2021 and, in the summer, the Patina Maldives, the first resort of the Capella Hotels Group lifestyle brand, which will also open a third in 2022.

The Ritz-Carlton Fari Islands will offer 100 villas in minimalist and contemporary luxury, all with private pools.

There is also a butler to take care of every need, in addition to the Spa, seven restaurants, two bars, the Ritz Kids Club, swimming pool and play area.

Guests will also have access to the Fari Marina, with additional restaurants and shops.

The Patina Maldives will count 90 villas with private pools and 20 beach suites designed by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan, all with a unique and modern design.

But also tailor-made wellness programs, interactive programs, culinary experiences and a particular attention to eco-sustainability, such as the ban throughout the resort on the use of single-use plastic.

News also for the atoll of Lhaviyani, famous for the dive site The Shipyard in which there are the wrecks of two ships dating back to the 40s, now populated by many fish and a golden destination for divers.

Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa will open on the atoll in September, reachable by a 35-minute seaplane journey from Velana International Airport.

Designed with family stays in mind, it is surrounded by a natural lagoon and on its 9 hectares will offer six dining experiences, complete with an overwater restaurant, and no fewer than 50 dive sites to explore.

Three luxury hotel chains will make their debut in the Maldives this year, opening their first hotel in the destination: The Chedi, Address Hotels and Avani.

The Chedi Kudavillingili, the first property of the GHM group in the Maldives, will be built on a private island of one kilometer in the homonymous atoll.

The resort, located 25 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, will offer 99 villas including 36 overwater and 63 on the island.

It will also have a central pool, overwater spa, beach club & bar and various restaurants and live cooking stations.

A diving and surfing center is also available to guests.

The Address Hotels group, which currently has properties in the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, will expand its portfolio with the opening of Address Madivaru Maldives Resort & Spa which will be spread over several islands and will include a Spa Island, an island for sports watersports, a myriad of restaurants and bars including a floating one, as well as beach and overwater villas and in-water fitness facilities and pools.

In the atoll of Baa, which hosts the only natural oasis in the country protected by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve, Avani Hotel & Resort will inaugurate the Avani Fares Maldives.

Thanks to its unique location in the atoll and proximity to the Ahivahfushi dive site, it will be the perfect destination for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts.

Two hundred rooms, from standard to luxury villas, plus restaurants, bars, kids clubs and an Avani Spa. (ANSA).
