A few weeks after announcing that he suffered from stage four cancer, the 'Saved By The Bell' actor passed away on Monday.

Dustin Diamond,

best known for playing the lovable Samuel "Screech" Powers on the hit NBC sitcom, "Saved by the Bell," passed away on Monday after losing his battle with cancer.

According to

TMZ

, a representative for Dustin assured that the actor died this Monday morning.

"His condition had worsened tremendously since last week, and he was taken off respirators in an attempt to take him to hospice care. His girlfriend was by his side when he passed away," the portal reported.

It was just three weeks ago that Dustin was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, for which he was hospitalized in early January.

At that moment, his partner and friend

Mario Lopez

sent him an emotional message after learning the diagnosis.

According to his representative, during this time the actor's cancer managed to spread rapidly through his body, worsening his health.

"Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to remain submerged in pain. For that we are grateful," he reported.

"Dustin Diamond was a character unto himself: an unpredictable spit that always shocked us, but never left us bored," the representative said in a statement to 'People'.

"We are grateful that you have trusted us enough to share your genuine and authentic self with our team. We wish you were met the way we did. We ask you for space for the privacy of our team and family. of Mr. Diamond during this tragic moment, as we mourn and remember the memories we had together. This loss is as painful as it is sudden, "he concluded.

Dustin was initially hospitalized in Florida in January after experiencing pain throughout his body and a general feeling of discomfort.

Unfortunately, the star's diagnosis turned out to be cancer.

In mid-January, Diamond's manager,

Roger Paul

, told 'NBC News' that the actor was battling carcinoma in his lungs and had also started chemotherapy treatments.

Roger said that Dustin had been receiving support from his fans, who wanted his speedy recovery.

Dustin Diamond rose to fame thanks to his role in 'Saved by the Bell', where he played Screech, Zack Morris' friend, played by

Mark-Paul Gosselaar.

When the original series ended, Dustin was incorporated into its sequel, 'Saved by the Bell: The College Years', where his character returned to the center where he studied as part of his university training, and would end up becoming an assistant director.

Although Dustin was one of the lead roles in the series, he was the only original cast member not to appear in the Peacock re-release that premiered in November.

The missing character was explained in one of the episodes, as said by AC Slater, a character played by Mario.

"Screech is so lucky that he and Kevin can live on the International Space Station, so he doesn't have to deal with all of this."
