Covid: infections decrease, but hospitalized people increase

Infections and deaths from the coronavirus in Italy, while keeping up with the collapse in the number of tests on Sunday, but an increase in patients in intensive care and in ordinary wards. In the last 24 hours there have been 7. (ANSA)


(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 01 - Infections and deaths from coronavirus in Italy, while keeping up with the collapse in the number of tests on Sunday, but an increase in patients in intensive care and in ordinary wards.

In the last 24 hours, 7,925 positive tests have been registered, with 329 victims, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday there were 11,252 positive tests, 237 dead.


    A total of 142,419 molecular swabs and antigenic testrapids carried out - among the lowest data in absolute months -, with a positivity rate of 5.6% (yesterday 5.27 %, therefore up by about 0.3%).

Yesterday there were 213,364 tests, over 70,000 more.


    There are 2,252 people admitted to intensive care, 37 more than yesterday, in the balance between entries and exits;

there are 145 daily admissions, up from the last few days.

The hospitalized with symptoms are instead 20,260 in total, 164 more than yesterday.


    The regions that communicated the highest number of positive tests in the 24 hours are Lombardy 1,093, Emilia Romagna1,051, Campania 994.


    Eight regions continue not to disclose the details of positive antigenic tests.

These are Sicily, Liguria, Marche, Abruzzo, Umbria, Basilicata, Molise and Valle d'Aosta.
