In southern Thuringia, carnivalists celebrated an illegal candlestick parade.

Some of the 90 or so celebrants went through Jüchsen in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in costumes, as reported by local media.

The police were on site with a large contingent and finally resolved the illegal event on Sunday, as the MDR reported, citing the district office.

The emergency services issued three criminal charges for insulting and resisting police officers.

Images on the Internet are said to show how police officers handcuff a person lying on the ground.

According to the report, the fools were also traveling in vehicles and at least one horse.

District Administrator Peggy Greiser sharply criticized the behavior of the partiers: The people did not even keep minimum distances or wear protective masks.

"Apparently there is a complete lack of a sense of reality and consideration."

"We won't accept that," said the politician, according to the report.

“In the hospitals, doctors and nurses fight for innumerable human lives, at home many fear for their economic livelihoods, and Carnival is celebrated here.

Apparently there is a complete lack of a sense of reality and consideration. "

The local carnival club is apparently not responsible for the hustle and bustle, as the "Free Word" reports: The Jüchsen Carnival Club (JKC), like all other clubs in the region, canceled all events.

On Sunday morning, the JKC club president urged residents to adhere to the Corona rules.

According to the newspaper, the public order office and the municipal administration did not assume that an illegal event would take place despite such appeals.

According to "Free Word", the move should have had a length of about 300 meters.

According to the MDR, the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen currently has the highest value in all of Thuringia and one of the highest in Germany, with a seven-day incidence of 471 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
