The Ministry of Health issued a new directive this evening (Monday), saying that there is no impediment to getting vaccinated against the corona virus at all stages of pregnancy.

This is in contrast to his recommendation from last week, when he called on women in the first trimester of pregnancy not to get vaccinated.

In doing so, the Ministry of Health actually adopted the recommendation of the World Health Organization, which recommended that pregnant women be vaccinated, at every stage of the pregnancy.

As mentioned, last Thursday the Ministry of Health recommended that all pregnant women be vaccinated in the second and third trimesters of their pregnancy, and addressed the vaccine in the first trimester.

"The first trimester of pregnancy (regardless of coronary heart disease) is characterized by a relatively high rate of bleeding, miscarriages and the formation of fetal malformations. From the second third, "the ministry said in a statement.

However, in its announcement last week, the ministry referred to pregnant women who are in the high-risk infection population or high-risk group, and recommended that they be vaccinated in the first trimester of pregnancy as well.

The reason for the concerns about vaccines for pregnant women is that the vaccines developed by the companies Pfizer and Moderna have not been tested on pregnant women - and not because signs of dangers to vaccinators or fetuses have been found.

However, according to experts, the vaccines have not shown adverse effects in animal studies.

In addition, the technology in which the vaccines were manufactured has been proven to be safe.
