The approximately 8 million Italian students are all back in class today, including 2.5 million high school students, even if with percentages ranging from 50 to 75% in attendance, as foreseen by the latest Dpcm.
To stay at home for another week are only the high school students of Sicily, which has become 'orange', where today the second and third grade students will return to the desks (for all the others the school had remained in attendance even during the past).
Latest in order of time to bring back high school children to their institutes are, today, the Regions of Sardinia, Calabria, Puglia, Basilicata, Veneto, Campania, Friuli Venezia Giulia for a total of 976,668 students who are added to the 144,974 of the average in Sicily.
In Veneto, however, there is a novelty: the wheeled benches purchased in recent months by the Government to facilitate the distancing between students in the classroom have been removed from the classrooms and put back in storage.
The main reason for setting aside the anti-Covid desks would be that they favor the onset of back pain in children, as reported by the regional councilor for education, Elena Donazzan.
The reopening of the schools is hailed as a victory by Minister
Lucia Azzolina
who has always fought for the return of students to the classroom and around which the M5S squares using words that seem to lock the head of the Education Department even for the next government : "Tomorrow many high school kids will return to school - say the exponents of the M5S in the Senate Education Committee - For us it is an important step, achieved also thanks to the work of Minister Lucia Azzolina and her commitment to bring the boys back into the presence . Young people, training, digital culture are identity themes for the Movement. And so the school, which guards these elements all, and which is a fundamental element in our agenda for the coming years. The school needs continuity and must maintain the centrality that has been painstakingly recognized in recent months ".
