First court victory for the Dukes of Sussex in one of their lawsuits against hostile British tabloids, most notably the popular Daily Mail and Mail On Sunday.
It was obtained by Prince Harry, second son of Charles and Diana, who agreed to withdraw a lawsuit against the publishing house of the two newspapers on the basis of a transaction, communicated today to the Alta Corta of London, according to which the Mail On Sunday and the Mail online have agreed to withdraw as "groundless, false and defamatory" the contents of two articles about Harry released after the sensational decision of the prince and his wife, Meghan Markle, to renounce the status of senior members of the royal family in favor of a more independent life in America. The publisher will also have to pay "significant compensation" (the amount of which remains reserved) to the duke to repair the moral damage, said Jenny Afia, one of the Sussex lawyers. In the incriminated articles, the queen's nephew was accused of having in fact abandoned his commitments as patron of the Royal Marines, a body in which Harry had served at the time and to which he claims to be very attached, after distancing himself from the Royal Family .
