Google is giving up on the creation of video games.
The American giant announced on Monday that it would close the Stadia Games and Entertainment development studios it had founded just two years ago in Montreal and Los Angeles.
The latter employed 150 people, most of whom were hired by the big players in the industry.
“Developing the best possible games requires time and significant investment, the amount of which continues to climb,”
said Phil Harrison, director of Stadia, the
cloud gaming
platform
launched by Google at the end of 2019, in the press release.
“We decided to no longer invest in exclusive content created by our internal teams. ”
