In the criminal proceedings surrounding the murder of the Kassel District President Walter Lübcke, the convicted murderer Stephan Ernst and the federal prosecutor's office appealed against the judgment.
This was announced by a spokeswoman for the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court.
The 47-year-old Ernst was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday, but was acquitted on the second count of attempted murder of an Iraqi refugee.
The defense had pleaded for manslaughter (read more about it here).
The co-defendant Markus H. had already submitted an appeal on Monday.
In the first instance he was acquitted of the allegation of aiding and abetting, but received a suspended sentence for violating the weapons law.
The Lübcke family, who acted as joint plaintiffs, initially wanted to think about the verdict in peace.
The revision must be submitted in writing within a week - i.e. by Thursday.
The third criminal division of the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe is responsible.
