(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 03 - LONDON, FEBRUARY 03 - The foreign ministers of the G7 today said they were "deeply concerned" about the coup d'état in Burma and urged the military to put an end "immediately" to the state of emergency in the country.

This is what we read in a joint statement released today by London.

"We are deeply concerned about the detention of political leaders and civil society activists, including State Councilor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint, and about the attack on the media", said ministers from Italy, France, Germany. United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Japan.

"We call on the military to immediately end the state of emergency, restore the power of the democratically elected government, free all those who have been unjustly detained and respect human rights and the rule of law," the statement concluded.
