Covid: infections return to over 13 thousand, 476 victims

Coronavirus infections in Italy are rising again: in the last 24 hours, 13,189 positive tests for coronavirus have been registered, according to data from the Ministry of Health. Yesterday there were 9,660 positive tests. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 03 - Coronavirus infections in Italy are rising again: in the last 24 hours, 13,189 positive coronavirus tests have been registered, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday the positive tests were 9,660.

The victims today are 476, slightly down compared to yesterday, when there were 499.


    279,307 tests (molecular and antigenic swabs) carried out in the last 24 hours (about 35,000 more than yesterday), with a positive rate of 4.7 % (yesterday it was 3.9%; the increase is therefore 0.8%).


    The good news comes from the number of people admitted to intensive care, which are now 2,145, therefore 69 less than yesterday, in the balance between entries and exits;

the daily admissions are 133. There is also a decrease in hospitalized patients with symptoms in the ordinary wards, which are now 20,071, or 246 less than yesterday.


    In total, since the beginning of the epidemic, there have been 2,583,790 cases in Italy, 89,820 dead.

The currently positive are 434,722 (-3,043 compared to yesterday), the recovered and discharged 2,059,248 (+15,748), in home isolation there are 412,506 people (-2,728).


    The regions with the highest number of test positives in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health, are: Lombardy 1,738, Campania 1,539, Lazio 1,164, Emilia Romagna1,047, Puglia 1,044.


    Eight regions still fail to report the number of positives to the rapid antigen test.

These are Sicily, Liguria, Marche, Abruzzo, Umbria, Basilicata, Molise and Valled'Aosta.
