Covid-19 in France: 26,362 new cases and 358 deaths in 24 hours

Public Health France reported on Wednesday a slight increase in the number of contaminations and hospitalizations.


These are numbers that the government scrutinizes, day after day.

The Prime Minister, Jean Castex, and Olivier Véran, the Minister of Health, will give a press conference on Thursday and will detail new ones.

The figures published this Wednesday by Public Health France show, once again, an increase, although slight, in the number of contaminations and hospitalizations.

This Wednesday, Public Health France therefore reports 26,362 new contaminations in the last 24 hours in France.

The day before, 23,337 new cases had been reported over the same period.

A week ago, January 27, 26,916 cases in 24 hours were counted.

Regarding hospitalizations, 27,953 patients are hospitalized this Wednesday because of the Covid-19.

They were 28,029 the day before, 27,131 seven days ago.

Among them, 3,267 people are in intensive care, against 3,270 the day before and 3,097 a week ago.

1882 new hospitalizations were recorded in the last 24 hours, 275 people were admitted to the intensive care units in the same period.

358 new deaths

Santé Publique France reveals that 358 new deaths linked to Covid-19 have been recorded in hospitals in the past 24 hours.

As of Tuesday, 404 people had died over the same period.

351 additional deaths were recorded on the same day a week ago.

In total, 77,595 people have died from Covid-19 in hospitals and retirement homes in France.
