- Competent, interconnected and open to innovation: this is the identikit of the new generation of Italian agricultural entrepreneurs traced by the survey of the Edagricole Young Farmers Observatory carried out in collaboration with Bayer and elaborated by Nomisma on the data collected during 2020.
The study, which focuses in particular on the propensity of young people for innovation and conducted on the "qualified opinion of 458 young companies", was released today 4 February at the live streaming event "Towards a younger and smarter agriculture ".
The survey shows that young agricultural entrepreneurs get information on the internet (43%) but also consult specialized magazines (29%) and attend sector events (26%).
It is recorded that almost half (45%) adopt agriculture solutions 4.0 and 19% use more than one.
They choose the apps to manage the accounting (23%), the variable rate equipment (14%), the weather stations and the DSS (14%).
The data processed also highlights that with innovation they want to achieve objectives of sustainability (36%), management efficiency (18%), cost containment (17%) and production enhancement (12%).
45% use at least one application and in most cases (23%) they are apps for accounting or production / processing management.
70% are ready to use Tea (Assisted Evolution Technologies), which "constitute the most advanced frontier in the genetic improvement of cultivated species".
