(ANSA) - LONDON, 05 FEB - Daily contagions from Covid in the UK in 24 hours on a total of almost 800,000 daily tests are back below 20,000 (19,114, about a thousand less than yesterday), due to the lockdown and the hydraconian restrictions introduced in response the aggressive 'English variant' of the virus;
while the national spread of the disease Rt is revised downwards - from 0.7-1.1 to 0.7-1: that is, below the danger threshold 1 beyond which the threat of contagion is considered exponential.
This is certified by the updated data released today by the British government, which, however, count another 1014 deaths, up to an official total from the beginning of the pandemic between 111,000 and 112,000 victims: an absolute European record and now second only to Belgium and small Slovenia in relation to the population.
In any case, the slowing of the curve of this latest wave of infection and new hospitalizations is consolidated.
While the vaccines administered come to touch the rate of 11 million people: with over 10.9 million primedoses and almost 506,000 recalls.
